CHC is the primary air transportation service provider for the Chad/Cameroon Pipeline Project. This 1,070 km underground pipeline transports oil from the landlocked fields of Doba, Chad, to the coastline at Kribi, Cameroon, from where it can be shipped to other regions of the world. Chad officially became an oil-producing nation in 2003 with the completion of the $4 billion pipeline project. A consortium involving ExxonMobil, Petronas, Chevron Texaco and the World Bank helped make the Chad/Cameroon pipeline project a reality. CHC Global Operations supports two flight operations in Chad and Cameroon. As the pipeline construction is complete, CHC will play a support role, transporting workers both onshore and offshore. This includes shifting workers from camp to camp, as well as MedEvac operations. CHC will also support onshore pipeline inspections. A five-year contract with EEPCI (Esso Exploration and Production Chad Inc.) has been signed for operations in Chad. The base, located in Chad’s capital N’Djamena, is supported by three fixed wing aircraft: one Dash-8 300 and two Dash-6 Twin Otters. A similar contract has been signed with COTCO (Cameroon Oil Transportation Company) in Cameroon. The base is located in Douala, with two aircraft operating out of Douala, a Dash-6 Twin Otter and Dauphin N-3 AS-365. With the recent signing of a contract renewal, CHC has employed a number of new staff including pilots, engineers and dispatchers as part of our commitment to the region. |
